Service-Learning Excellence Awards Ceremony cum Student Forum 2023 was held on 19 June 2023 to celebrate the accomplishments of students and teachers involved in the service-learning modules. We were pleased to have more than 45 participants present at the ceremony. Professor Hui Yer Van, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research) and Dr Ben Cheng, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, officiated the ceremony and expressed their congratulations to awardees.

This year, a total of 11 teachers received Certificates of Appreciation presented by Prof. YV Hui and 12 student project teams received “Service-Learning Excellence” Awards with certificates and cash prizes presented by Dr. Ben Cheng, and 6 student teaching assistants were awarded certificates in appreciation of their invaluable services.

The forum was moderated by Dr Victor Chan, Associate Director (Service Learning) of CTL. Mr Justin Yum, Part-time Lecturer from Department of Computer Science and Ms Ice Kwok, Lecturer from Department of Social Science shared their experience to implement meaningful Service-Learning (S-L) modules highlighting tips to integrate academic knowledge into S-L projects. Student representatives from the S-L modules shared interesting insights about their projects and positive impact on the community.

The ceremony showcased the power of service-learning and its positive impact on both students and the community. Once again, congratulations to all awardees in the Academic Year 2022/23!
