Module instructor: Ms Maggie Wong 

Community partner: Tsing Yi Trade Association School

Project: Instructor Ms Maggie Wong is dedicated to service-learning in her Sociology module, benefiting both her students and the Pakistani pupils they serve. At the semester’s start, students visited Kowloon Mosque and ethnic minority shops in Tsim Sha Tsui. They also organised three activities for local students, fostering empathy and a deeper connection with these communities.

Community partner: DE&I Correspondent for L’Oréal Hong Kong

Project: This module introduces marketing concepts with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Students participated in a seminar featuring real-life examples from L’Oreal Group and Jardine Aviation Services. They actively researched and proposed innovative ideas to address the needs of their respective DEI groups, enhancing their understanding and practical application of these important concepts.

Community partner: Deaf Cafeteria

Project: This module focuses on the mission and constitution of social enterprises, which are organizations that are established with the purpose of providing employment opportunities or delivering transformative products or services.

The project involved assisting social enterprises and empowering special workers. The students visited and served Deaf Cafeteria, a coffee shop run by the Hong Kong Society for the Deaf. Dear Cafeteria provides job opportunities for the deaf, promotes sign language, and raises awareness about their lives.

Community partner: Hong Kong Society for the Deaf

Project: This innovative service-learning module allows students to apply classroom research methods by offering services to the Hong Kong Society for the Deaf. They designed a survey and conducted focus group interviews to gather insights on accessible facilities for hearing-impaired individuals. Analyzing the data, students formulated suggestions to enhance understanding and support for disadvantaged communities, helping them adapt better to society.
