“Over 80 HSUHK and NUM students formed mixed teams, kickstarting collaborative social venture proposals”
Students from the MGT2021 “Social Entrepreneurship as Creative Problem Solving” class at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) partnered with Cambodian students and a teacher from the National University of Management (NUM) for an intensive Service-Learning project in Hong Kong and Cambodia. From 9 to 13 February 2026, the week-long programme was designed to nurture students’ creativity in addressing social and environmental challenges, and to deepen cross-cultural understanding through face-to-face collaboration.
On-Campus Kick-off Event
The highlight of the project was the on-campus engagement day held on 12 February at HSUHK. During the morning, NUM students joined a VR visit, followed by a cultural exchange activities. In the afternoon and evening, over 80 students from HSUHK and NUM participated in interactive workshops and a fireside chat under MGT2021, where they formed mixed teams, explored real-life community issues, and began co-developing initial ideas for social venture projects.
Hands-On Social Entrepreneurship Learning
Throughout the programme, students were guided to apply social entrepreneurship frameworks to identify social needs, generate innovative solutions and consider impact, feasibility and sustainability. The project also provided rich opportunities for intercultural exchange, as Hong Kong and Cambodian students shared their perspectives on poverty, education, environmental challenges and community development in their respective contexts.
Following the Hong Kong visit, the teams will continue to collaborate online, further refining their proposals for 18 partnering NGOs and community organisations in Cambodia and Hong Kong. This Service-Learning experience not only enhanced students’ understanding of social entrepreneurship, but also strengthened partnerships between HSUHK and NUM, laying a strong foundation for future cross-border, impact-driven collaborations.
