Students Highlight Culture and Sustainability at Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival 2024

“HSUHK students ignited the festival with their insightful showcases.”

From 23 to 27 October 2024, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) made an impact at the Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival 2024, With 150,000 visitors (up from 140,000 last year), gathered at the Central Waterfront, the event turned into a pivotal platform for HSUHK students to showcase their insights and enhance the spirit of experiential learning on a global stage.

Cultural Insights 

Under the expert guidance of module instructor, Dr Victor Chan from the Department of Social Science, eight student teams focused on various aspects of Japanese culture and society. They showcased their cultural knowledge of Japanese sake and its significance in areas such as gender, workplace, family, and religion.

Professor Jeanne Fu, Vice-President (Learning and Student Experience), Ms Antonia Yeung, Associate Vice-President (Development and Campus Services) , Professor Tam Kwok Kan, Chair Professor and Dean of School of Humanities and Social Science and Dr Holly Chung, Associate Director (Teaching and Learning Enhancement) at CTL, all of whom were delighted to connect with the students at the fest.

“Events Go Green” Solutions

Class students were divided into teams to brainstorm ideas and develop a proposal on “Events Go Green” for the Festival.  Under the guidance of module instructor, Mr Roy Ying from Department of Marketing, the teams explored practical strategies to reduce waste and carbon footprints.

It has been a valuable experience for me to gain insights into how an event is conducted!! I am also fortunate to have great teammates to work with ,it’s a pleasure to work with all of you!” said Alison Li, Year 4 student.
