Bridging Theory and Practice: Service-Learning as Transformative Pedagogy”

To learn the service-learning pedagogy that have been used for decades by some of the most innovative teachers and educators, we were honoured to have invited Dr. Victor Chan, Associate Director (Service-Learning) from CTL to give the HSUHK Community a talk on the second day of the HSUHK Induction Programme 2025 (25 August 2025).

In the talk, titled “Embedding Service-Learning into Credit-Bearing Modules: Pedagogical Approaches and Good Practices at HSUHK”, participants were introduced to – 

  • HSUHK’s current service-learning framework, the available support, and inspiring examples of successful projects.

  • Practical ideas and tools for planning and delivering service-learning activities within credit-bearing modules.

  • Assessment methods to ensure service-learning components align with both academic goals and community needs.
